Te Mana o Ngāti Kere

Te Mana o Ngāti Kere - the Ngāti Kere Hapū Authority was established in October 2020.

Multiple hui were held from 2016 to:

  • provide recommendations on an appropriate legal entity for Ngāti Kere
  • develop a structure for managing the Treaty Settlement funds allocated through Rongomaraeroa marae
  • draft a strategic plan
  • draft a trust deed

Purpose of the Hapū Authority

The purpose of the Hapū Authority is:

  • to administer trust assets for the benefit of our people
  • the promotion amongst Ngāti Kere of the spiritual, cultural, educational, economic and health advancement of our people
  • Any other purposes that is considered by the Board from time to time to be beneficial to Ngāti Kere.

Board members

Current board members are:

  • David Tipene Leach - Chair
  • Jim Hutcheson
  • Keri-Anne Stevens - treasurer
  • Emily Wikingi

Our secretary is Tania Anne Nichols.

Meetings

The board meets the third Wednesday of every second month.  

We run an annual general meeting and will establish a more regular hui-a-hapū.
